KY school choice bill becomes law!
Congratulations are in order for thousands of families across the Commonwealth - Kentucky has passed a school choice program! Following last night's vote by both chambers of the General Assembly to override Gov. Beshear's veto on House Bill 563, the legislation officially became law today when it was signed by Secretary of State Michael Adams. Implementation of the program will begin in the coming months.
This incredible victory for students across the Commonwealth would not have been possible without the tireless efforts of advocates like you. Every email you've sent, phone call you've placed, rally you've attended and post you've shared on social media made a tangible difference in this fight.
We also couldn't have done this without the leadership of our bill sponsors − Majority Whip Rep. Chad McCoy and Senator Ralph Alvarado − who courageously fought for school choice legislation over the past two sessions. Additionally, we'd like to extend our thanks and appreciation to Rep. Bam Carney and his tireless efforts over the years on behalf of Kentucky students. Although illness prevented him from participating in this vote, his unwavering advocacy for school choice brought us to this day.
HB 563 will help thousands of Kentucky students in the near future, making an impact that will last for years to come.
Please take a moment to thank members of the General Assembly who voted "yes" to HB 563 and stood up for Kentucky students! Click here to email your State Senator and Representative today or call 1-800-372-7181 and leave a message-see below for last night's final vote tally!
Also, help spread the word by sharing the following on your personal Facebook and Twitter pages! The more Kentucky families hear about this, the more students can access the unique education they need!
Thank you, again, to everyone who has been involved in this fight over the years-this is your victory!
